Here’s the truth: showings can happen fast—and sometimes with short notice. Whether you're selling in Moapa Valley or Northwest Las Vegas, buyers are busy, and when they want to see a home, they mean now.
I always tell my sellers this: your home doesn’t need to be magazine-perfect every second of the day—but it should be show-ready in five minutes or less. That’s why I’ve put together this quick, no-fluff guide to get your home dialed in before a showing, even if you’re already halfway out the door.
1. Clear the Counters, Fast
Buyers aren’t just looking at your home—they’re imagining themselves living in it. That means clearing off kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, and nightstands. Toss everything into a bin or drawer if you’re in a rush. Less clutter = more space = better impression.
2. Lights On, Blinds Open
Light sells homes. Turn on every light—yes, every light—and open all the blinds or curtains. Natural light makes your space feel bigger, brighter, and more inviting. Even if it's daylight outside, interior lights help warm up the space and make it feel intentional.
3. Tame the Smells
Nothing turns a buyer off faster than weird smells. Do a quick sniff test: pet beds, trash cans, laundry baskets, or last night’s dinner can linger. Open a window for a few minutes and light a neutral candle if you have one. Avoid overpowering sprays—they can raise red flags.
4. Hide the Evidence (of Real Life)
This one’s quick:
-
Dirty laundry? In the basket or a closet.
-
Dishes in the sink? Into the dishwasher.
-
Toothbrushes, razors, or personal items? Out of sight.
The goal is a clean, neutral slate that allows buyers to picture their lives here—not yours.
5. One Last Walk-Through (As If You Were the Buyer)
Step outside. Walk back in like it’s your first time. What catches your eye? What feels off? This quick reset helps you spot things you’d otherwise overlook—like a rogue sock on the floor or fingerprints on the fridge.
Final Thought
Buyers aren’t expecting perfection—but they are looking for potential. A clean, bright, and clutter-free home helps them focus on the features, not the distractions.
